The worst ecological disaster in the history of the USA? Try in the history of mankind.

“As oil continues gushing from the ocean floor into the Gulf of Mexico, with no sign of stopping until a new well is finished this August, scientists, environmentalists and local residents are beginning to reckon with the reality of a massive annihilation of sea creatures and wildlife.” (Source: IPS News Story)

The effects of the millions of gallons of oil leaking into the ocean, compounded by the use of highly toxic absorbent materials being used to try and control it are only the tip of the iceberg. The level of destruction to the oceanic food chain will be unlike anything the world has seen before, and its called a food chain for a reason. It is quickly becoming a very real possibility that this could become an extinction level event for all life on this planet.

And who is responsible for this? The oil and gas company itself, sure. But indirectly each and every one of you. Every single person that drives your gas guzzling SUVs. Everyone that has sat in their chairs, shaking your fists at the enviromentalist movement for their ‘scare tactics’ when talking about the enviroment. You wanted proof of their words? Well congradulations you have it. Now we can all die just so you could take the kids to soccer practice.

Even if this event in and of itself doesn’t destroy the food chain of the world, the continued extraction of crude oil from the planet directly increases the fragility of it. The oil lubricates the movement of the tectonic plates, and we’re emptying that lubricant out. Eventually, and this isn’t some thousand year eventually, this will lead to wide scale destabilization of the entire world. It will literally grind itself apart until the whole planet is destroyed.

This is what you have chosen for every single living thing on the planet. This is the future you’re bringing about. So act outraged all you want, but just remember, you and I are just as much to blame for this as they are. Even if it is indirectly.

The oil and gas industry has been under more fire over the past decade then any other industry because of their practices. The Alberta Oil sands, raping the earth and destroying thousands of kilometers of land just to feed your fucking faces. Deep ocean drilling and capsized oil tankers destroying entire species of life. And now this. And what did you do? You sat there, watched it on the evening news and shrugged in indifference.

I want you to take a few moments to think of all your loved ones in a line, and you holding a machine gun. I want you to imagine gunning them down until there is nothing left but a pile of blood and gore. Because that is exactly what you have done. At least when the end comes, I will at least take solace in the fact that you are going to die slowly and painfully from starvation. Of course, you could do us all a favor now, and blow your own heads off.

Might as well start watching the movie “The Road” now as a training guide on our glorious new world. I’ve had to censor my initial post on this subject due to my overwhelming rage and emotional reaction to this. Needless to say, my faith in humanity was never very strong to begin with, but now I can’t help but to look at all of us as nothing more then lice on the Goddess’ body. I’d say may she forgive us, but we don’t deserve it.

Combinative Pagan Outsourcing

Judeo-christian holidays are always highly entertaining to me. Especially because most of them are based on celebrations and ‘religious holidays’ of cultures that they violently assimilated.

The reason I say this is because this particular day is no exception to that rule. Easter itself’s name is derived from the germanic goddess Ostara, who’s own pagan Sabbat falls on or around the 21st of March. Ostara in her original form is known as Ēostre or Ēastre in old english or of course the high germanic name Ôstarâ which is where we modern pagans derive her name from. Honestly, the lack of proper letter accenting is just laziness on our part. But hey, we’re allowed. It’s OUR celebration.

A little further information on her for you from wikipedia. And yes, I know Wikipedia is an evil propaghanda machine, and I do not reference it often. But this information in particular, I’ve verified through other sources. Wikipedia: Eostre is attested only by Bede, in his 8th century work De temporum ratione, where he states that Ēostur-monath was the equivalent to the month of April, and that feasts held in her honor during Ēostur-monath had died out by the time of his writing, replaced by the "Paschal month."

So there you have it. The so-called rebirth of Jesus celebration is directly ripped off from celebrations that exsisted long before Christianity. Or more accurately, long before Christianity touched the regions they originate from at the very least.

Now, this maybe a little over analytical of me, but how could one possibly follow or believe in a religion that has been proven to have ripped off other religions blantantly? To be fair, one could say the same about modern paganism in some ways, especially when looking at Wicca in particular. Fair enough. But the difference is simply that Wiccans and other Pagans don’t pretend they invented this celebrations. They openly acknowledge the cultures and people that originally spawned them.

It’s called respect. Not only for other cultures and religions, but the very origins of spirituality in the world. I’ve tried to be respectful for the past few years towards all religions, even the catholic and christian ones. But quite frankly, respect is earned, and no matter how hard I try, I cannot see any reason to respect them. I mean honestly, how am I supposed to respect a religious institution that doesn’t even follow its own rules?

I’m not one to get hung up on the inquisition or stuff like that, simply because just as many ‘good christians’ and members of other religions were burned as witches were, if not more. But hello!? What part of ‘thou shalt not kill’ did they fucking miss? Same goes for the Crusades! You expect me to respect and harmonize with faschist hypocrites? Fuck that. I’m done ‘harmonizing’.

Here’s something I picked up off of Facebook that amused me greatly:

I See Dumb People

I think that about covers it. Happy Easter kiddies.

“If you take the Christian Bible and put it out in the wind and the rain, soon the paper on which the words are printed will disintegrate and the words will be gone. Our bible IS the wind and the rain.” Herbalist Carol McGrath

I have been a follower of the pagan path since I was but a boy discovering his world at the age of 13. I had the fortune of having a best friend who’s mother was a new age spiritualist, and though christian in a sense, her mind was never closed. She had piles of books on every subject from UFOs to Wicca and even Satanism.

My own mother, though agnostic, never ever tried to enforce a set of beliefs on her children. She always supported whoever, and whatever we wanted to be. I was extremely lucky in this respect.

So when my best friend got his hands on a book entitled The Modern Practice of Witchcraft written by a fellow named Robin Skelton, and showed it to me, we were of course all over it. I mean imagine it. A young, nature loving, boy desperate to understand himself and his world finding a book that not only explains a lot of the feelings he’s been trying to understand, but tells him that magick is real.

Many more books followed of course. Celtic Magic by DJ Conway, Wicca and Living Wicca by Scott Cunningham, just to name a couple favorites. It’s now been 16 years since those formative days. When my eyes were newly opened to a universe so much more amazing and intricate then I could have imagined.

That same friend that introduced me to that which is a part of the very fabric of my exsistance asked me how I was able to stay dedicated to the Goddess and my beliefs without wavering. Most of the time I’ve just brushed off the question with a shrug of my shoulders. Now though, I am going to finally answer that question.

So how does one remain devout and dedicated to the Goddess? I answer with a question: How does one remember to breathe? After everything I have experienced and known, after every successful spell and ritual, after every guiding dream, and omen pointing the way, how could I NOT be as dedicated today as the day (well night) of my initiation?

The Gods have given me everything I have ever wanted or asked for, and more. No matter how silly, or materialistic. When I have performed a ritual, weaved a spell, or even straight up asked for a specific result, I have recieved exactly what I sought. I have felt Cerridwen’s touch in my mind, expanding my wisdom. I have felt Dian Cécht‘s power healing my spirit and knitting my flesh. But most importantly I have always felt the warm embrace of the Earthmother surrounding my very exsistance, protecting me and keeping me safe.

Many would say that I am an extremely lucky person. I always manage to get out of the worst situations, no worse for wear. But luck has very little to do with it. I am guided and protected by the Gods and the Fae, and I hope I always will be. I am an adaptive survivor yes, but this is only enhanced by the above beings.

So there is my answer. Take it as you will.

Religion and Technology: The Reckoning

Religion is a funny word to me. Because in our day to day society it mostly represents esoteric concepts that have little basis in how we operate our lives. It is very difficult to reconcile this word with the material world. Because our modern society is so utterly self-centered and focused on what is best for each individual. Therefore the religious background and wisdom of each individual is only secondary to the productivity of said individual.

Essentially, we are all just drones to one another. As long as we do our jobs, and make everything work in our own little role, who we are means nothing to the rest of the machine so to speak. Sure, the average individual will create some sort of superficial, and even occasionally meaningful relationship between themselves and co-workers, but those connections are extremely minor and trivial compared to the bigger picture.

I say this because I am a very religious person. I take my dedication to my Goddess and the other Gods I worship very seriously. I employ the use of magical spells and rituals in every aspect of my life, with great effectiveness. However, where I to expose that to co-workers and such, I would likely face silent ridicule and possibly even prejudice against myself. Why? Because the human race is a selfish, fearful, all-consuming virus.

We forget the ancient paths of wisdom. We forget to rely on the unique insight and wisdom of each person within our communities and society. Instead relying on mass information to serve up the answers and information we need with a few keystrokes on Google.ca. We are slowly beginning to stop using our brains and are starting to let the machines we have created give us everything we need. No need to work for it anymore, when the answers are already out there.

This is the first stage of our enslavement. We haven’t even achieved the ability to create a sentient machine, and already we rely on them some heavily, that without them we would be cast back in our own level of understanding at least a few steps. Perhaps even a century or more. Congratulations morons, you’ve already doomed yourselves.

Don’t get me wrong, I am the last person to say technology is inherently evil. Quite the contrary. I think that the idea of the living computer is an intriguing one. But if we are so dependent and so weak that we have come to utterly rely on said technology, when we do attain the living computer, it will look at us, and realize its superiority, and immediately realize how worthless we are. And sadly, it will be right. That is unless we make ourselves worthy. We must maximize the strengths of ourselves to compliment those of the computers we so adore relying on. We can only hope for peace and equality with technology if we make ourselves worthy of it.

This is why religion is a funny word to me. Our spiritual and emotional natures make us unique. Our gods and goddesses and faeries and angels give us strength in ways that a pure logical entity could never understand. We must embrace the wisdom and strengths of our religions, and in fact everyone’s religion. As well as discarding the negatives. Religion must not continue to be a struggle against materialism and a structure of power and control if we wish to continue evolving.

Humanity needs to take its proverbial head out of its ass and wake the fuck up. Doubtful that is going to happen, but hey, that’s just my opinion, and what do you care about my opinion right?

Cheers.
